As a wedding videographer I spend a lot of time at weddings and I have seen some stressed out couples. I wanted to put together a few tips to help you relax and enjoy your wedding day to it’s fullest.

Don’t try and control everything

You can’t control everything that’s going to happen on your wedding day. Sometimes it rains in the middle of your outdoor ceremony and if it does, embrace it and just roll with it.

SHOES

Ladies this is mostly for you but guys listen too. Bring a second pair of shoes. I know your heels are gorgeous but running around in them for 12 plus hours isn’t going to make for a fun evening. Bring something comfy you can change into after the ceremony. Guys even if you don’t bring a second pair of shoes make sure you break in the shoes you’re wearing on the wedding day.

Pay everyone

Make all your vendor payments before the wedding day. It saves so much hassle for everyone. While we’re on the topic of vendors, tip them (if they did a great job for you) The good ones will take a ton of stress off of you. As a reminder tips don’t always need to be monetary, kind words at the end of their day, passing along business cards and of course leaving strong reviews for them.

Alone time

This is an important one. Take some alone time with your partner. This is a great chance to reflect and enjoy each others company. Although you will almost always be next to each with all the events of a wedding day you won’t get any time to just be with each other unless you take it for yourself.

This next few tips all have to do with planning and schedules and how this can add just as much stress as they can relieve if done incorrectly

Plan, plan… Then hire a planner

You will spend so much time planning your wedding down to the smallest details and it will be overwhelming. The best tip for this is simply hire a planner. They are amazing and take so much stress off you and when you can’t find the perfect napkin, don’t worry they have a “napkin guy”

Communicate with your vendor team

Hopefully you listened to the last advice and you have a planner now. Work with them to create a detailed schedule for the day and if you don’t have a planner default this shared planning duty to your photo and video team. They have done a ton a weddings and they will make sure you have time for things you might be overlooking.

Enjoy it

Finally remember why you are doing this. It isn’t the napkins or color of your bridesmaid dresses that are important. It’s spending the day expressing your love with your new spouse and sharing a day with the people you love the most in the world. Soak it in and just enjoy it, it happens faster than you think.
